It is great because it combines the ability to have variable light in the entire room or to have a small reading lamp with a more intense concentrated light. However, the reading lamp is adjustable to shine just on the book and not into your eyes.

71"H Brushed Brass Halogen Torchiere/Reading Floor LampA lamp that has it all, this combination torchiere with a gooseneck reading light and down light can go anywhere. Each light has a full range dimmer for the torchiere and a hi/lo switch for the reading light.
