(More customer reviews)This table come unassembled which is to be expected. It arrived from Lumisource very quickly. The rub? No directions to put it together - no contact information - nothing! How hard could it be, right? Well, there is the table top (glass), the blue plastic cone, two bottom pieces - one heavy and one (shiny silver) that is cosmetic, and the cord/light fixture. So there were a number of screws and washers and I just set to assembling it in a logical fashion. I had to reassemble it after seeing that the light (40 watts) was too bright and then again when I realized the bolt was sticking out from the bottom so the table was not sitting flat. For the light I went with a very low watt florescent bulb - equivalent to 25 watts incandescent. The table has to be disassembled to change the bulb which is another reason to use a long-lasting florescent bulb.
It's cute and has a foot operated light switch so all's well that ends well.

Clear Halogen Bulb, 300 Watt Review

(More customer reviews)I bought couple of these and for both I noticed they quickly deteriorated after couple of weeks. The lamplight became dim and I was wondering if I am slowly getting blind. I examined the bulbs and noticed the tube tarnished inside by a mirror-black residue - presumable film from metal evaporation, because it was not there when I bought them. When you turn the light on, it takes couple of seconds to light up, when turned off - it continues glowing for up to five seconds. This is not how halogen bulbs should be!
I replaced the Feit bulb with another brand and guess what? The non-Feit 150W bulb is BRIGHTER than the Feit 300W!
Do not buy Feit halogen bulbs.

Full Spectrum 100 Watt Neodymium A21 Light Bulb, Clear Review

After replacing a few light bulbs in lamps surrounding my desk, suddenly I felt more in the mood to write and my creativity started to flow better in general. Could replacing a 100W light bulb truly have such an effect?
To explore this further I read this on the back of the light:

I'm happy I didn't read that before I experienced the effects because now I realize they are in fact wildly correct. This light will:
Mimic natural light
Enhance reading
Promote Well-Being
Now that I think of it, when I created most of my recipes, I was in a kitchen with
special fluorescent light bulbs that mimicked natural sunlight.
If you want to feel happy all the time indoors, could it be as simple as replacing all the light bulbs?
I'm willing to give this a try and if you have SAD or problems with depression, this could be a relatively painless and inexpensive solution.
Some of the lights are more expensive than others, but five dollars for an improved mood seemed fairly tame. The Neodymium color on the lights also makes the lighting look less yellow and is a rare earth element used in space age technology.
These light bulbs are packed especially well in their boxes so they don't move around and break, which gives me the confidence to order quite a few more. With an average life of 5,000 hours, I imagine after your initial investment, you can save a lot of money over time.
After ordering, give these three days and then see how you feel.

Maxxima BR40 LED Light Bulb - Cool White - 100 Watt Equivalent Review

(More customer reviews)At this point in time (2010), LED light bulbs are getting brighter and can be used as a low energy light source instead of CFLs in many situations; but they are not cost effective. The 15 watt BR40 was my first 100w equivalent LED bulb. I have several 5-7 watt LED light bulbs and the new Evolux 13 watt (100 watt equivalent) light bulb.
The BR40 has a rather large diameter, so installing it into a floor lamp involved reshaping the lamp shade harp. I am very satisfied with the brightness of the BR40 bulb; but unlike the other LED bulbs I have purchased, the BR40 has a lag between turning it on and seeing it light up. It's as though it is charging up a ballast, then sending power to the LEDs.
The BR40 seems to be a great low energy replacement 23 watt CFL that I formerly had in the floor lamp. The energy savings is not cost effective (10 watts per hour), but LEDs do not have any mercury in them and they presumably last for 50 years of normal use. The other advantage over CFLs is their low heat generation.
Basically, there is no cost advantage to using 120 volt LED light bulbs. It's just green. However, I do have an LED desk lamp that is powered by an 9 volt adapter; during a power outage, this lamp has provided light for 8 hours using a (3) 9 volt battery harness I made.
I think future homes will have additional 9 to 12 volt circuits for LED lighting. Currently, the bulbs must use 120 volts and converted it to low voltage DC.
