I've used this lamp for a couple months now. I have an L shaped desk with two 20" monitors in the corner. I have this light set up behind the monitors to save my workspace and it reaches out over top of the monitors with ease and provides the light right where I need it! The light is not super bright, but it provides, what I think is the perfect amount of light for the space I'm working in. It's really cool how the light can be moved in so many different directions and positions, and it just stays there!
This is the first time I've used a "crane" lamp, and I'm very satisfied with it. The bulb is rated to last a really long time...it's only been a few months, but no problems with it so far. The bulb also produces a WHITE light and not a yellow light, which is nice - it blends in with the sunlight shining in the window during the daytime. Being that it is right on top of my monitors, I was worried that it would produce a glare off of them, but it doesn't do that. Every once in a while it will produce a little glare off of a magazine because of the glossy pages of the magazine, but it's not terrible.
It also looks very sharp - black and silver give it very nice industrial and modern appearance.
Overall, I'm glad I purchased this lamp, and believe it will be a good fit for me for a long time.
I would recommend it to a friend/family member.
