(More customer reviews)I ordered this lamp for my mother, who is a very active 78, but who is starting to find her vision is affected by cataracts. Before this lamp, she was having trouble reading or knitting, both of which are important occupations for her when the weather is poor and she needs something to do indoors. Well, obviously, the lamp can't cure her cararacts, but she finds that the bright, blue-white, but non-glaring light genuinely helps her see her tasks better. This helps avoid eyestrain and frustration headaches. We chose this model because of its highly adjustable gooseneck and relatively small base. This allows it to fit into an already overcrowded room, sandwiched easily between her sofa where she prefers to sit, and the wall behind it. The antique brass color fits in perfectly with the rest of her 1950s American Colonial Revival light fixtures. The construction of the lamp seems to be quite robust. Overall we are very pleased with this purchase so far.
