(More customer reviews)We wanted more light over the round black slate dining table near the corner of the room. I was afraid this might be a big disaster, as it was difficult to guage from the photo if it would work out, but the dimensions suggested that it might be OK. It was delivered with a very heavy base (46 lbs), a box for the chrome globe, and a very large flat box for the main supporting pole. My wife and I took about an hour assembling it (very technically demanding for us amateurs) and then I held my breath, because it would be really difficult to re-pack and send the lamp back, not to mention dis-assembly. However, it has turned out to be the hit of the room. It's a georgeous additon, and it lights up the middle of the table without interfering with people sitting around the table or getting up and down from their seats. I didn't want to have to install something hanging from the ceiling, and this has allowed me to avoid that. Plus the lamp is a wonderful addition to the room, like a piece from MOMA in NY or SF. To me, in person, it looks a thousand times better than the photo. Very pleased for the specific use I had in mind.
