For the price, I expected real wood, sturdy supports, and a more elegant lampshade. What I received was cheap fiberboard covered with an even cheaper looking laminate. It was not even the type of wood laminate you might find on Ikea furniture; it looked as though it was wrapped in wood colored contact paper. The metal supports were flimsy and scuffed. The lampshades were plastic panels with a design imprinted on them to simulate a rice-paper type shade.
Originally I was excited for the design of this lamp, incorporating shelves and a reading lamp was aesthetically pleasing to me, however the materials and finish were extremely disappointing.
