Real wood with a lovely espresso finish, good quality textured cloth (light beige) Very easy to assemble, has it's own dimmer. Do to the cloth don't expect a bright light, it's more for a spot lighting, movie theater, accent type of light so if you want to light up the whole room with a bright light forget it. I use a 100W light bulbs.
